Self-storage is self-service storage. This means you subscribe to (or lease) a storage unit for your own use. Flexistore takes a smart, digital approach that makes this super simple and gives you great benefits. You can visit our storage facilities at any time and access the facility and your storage unit using digital keys in the Flexistore App. Only you have access to the unit and can decide if and who you want to share the digital keys with. Flexistore offers units in different sizes at several different locations. You will find a complete overview of the various storage units in the App.
We value the security of your belongings as if they were our own. Our digital access system and video surveillance ensure that we have full control over who is at the facility at all times. Our locks are built into the frame of our storage units. This makes them tamper proof. In addition, we’ve installed sensors that ensure our storage units are always dry and remain at a constant temperature and humidity level. We also offer insurance for your stored belongings. You choose this when you reserve a storage unit in the App.

Storage height in the unit will vary depending on the facility, ranging from 2.3m to 2.4m. If you have specific needs, contact customer service and we will try to assist you as best as we can.
A storage unit holds more than you’d think. In a small storage unit of 1 square metre, you can fit about 15 moving boxes by using the height. You can use our size calculator in the App to calculate approximately how much space you need. And if you’re not sure or have special requests, simply contact our customer service and we’ll help you find the right size.
No. Your unit is personal. Walls and doors are made of steel so no one can look inside your unit.

There are no power outlets in our storage facilities.
There are trolleys available at all our facilities. The trolleys are tracked through the App. If you use a trolley, please make sure you return it to the trolley parking area when you’re done.
The price of the units varies depending on their size and location. You can find prices for the various units on the website and in the App. You can download the App for free and register without committing to paying anything.
You can remotely open your storage unit with the keys in the App. If you’re not sure this applies to your unit, simply contact customer service.
Yes, you can easily share the digital key with other people. Simply open the App, go to the relevant storage unit and press “Share,” then follow the prompts. You can also remove access permissions in the App at any time.
Yes, you can have several units, in the same or different facilities, with the same user account. All storage units are managed in the App.
Flexistore is available for both private and company use. Anyone can download and use the Flexistore App, but to reserve a storage unit you must be 18 years of age or older.
No, apart from spending time repacking or tidying your storage unit. It is not permitted to stay in the unit for a longer period of time or to use the unit as a workplace.
You can store anything you want, within reason. For security reasons, it is not permitted to bring or store items that are a criminal offence to be in possession of, or that originate from criminal offences. The same applies to all types of food or foul-smelling goods, as well as flammable materials, liquids or gases, explosives, or anything else that can cause damage or cause danger.
Flexistore South Africa is not a registered Financial Services Provider and as such is not able to offer insurance to its customers. Customers are advised to take out their own insurance and to communicate to their insurers that their goods are stored at a Flexistore facility.
The minimum rental / lease period is 1 month. There is no maximum rental time period. The lease is ongoing and is automatically renewed monthly, or annually, until you choose to terminate the agreement.
You can easily terminate the lease for your storage unit in the App. You can also terminate the lease in writing via email or chat. Please note that the rental agreement must be terminated at least 14 days before the new rental billing period starts, otherwise you’ll be charged for the next month’s rental.

Each rental period starts on the next billing date. This information can be found in the App under the relevant storage unit.
If you have canceled the storage unit, and change your mind and still want to keep it, you can easily change this in the App. Select “re-activate” in App under the relevant storage unit and the lease will be reactivated.
The storage unit must be completely empty and clean before you leave it. The door must be closed and locked.
The rental agreement is between you and Flexistore, and cannot be transferred to others. You can share the digital key for the unit with whoever you want, but if someone else wants to take over the rental of the storage unit, this person must enter into a new agreement with Flexistore in their own name. Contact customer service and we will help with this.
When the reservation is made, you will see the selected storage unit in the App. You will also receive a confirmation by email and SMS when the reservation is approved. If the storage unit has a warning that says “waiting for approval,” try to refresh the page by dragging and dropping. The storage unit must also be paid for, for the reservation to be approved. If you have a reservation marked “unpaid”,” you can try to pay the unit again in the App.
The rent is paid in advance from month to month, or annually if you have chosen it. The first rent is paid in the App with the chosen payment method. Thereafter, the rent will be automatically deducted from the chosen payment method until the agreement is terminated. You can change and update the payment method in the app throughout the lease.
Receipt for the last month can be found in the App under the unit. If you need receipts that are further back in time, just contact customer service and we’ll send you what you need by e-mail.
No, we only send invoices by e-mail.
In the App you’ll find an overview of when the next payment is due. This is also the date the new rental period starts.
You digital keys will be deactivated and you’ll immediately lose access to the facility if payment isn’t made. As soon as outstanding claims have been paid, automatic access to the warehouse is granted again. You’ll receive payment reminders by e-mail or text message to help you avoid this problem.
With Flexistore, you can do everything in the App. This includes reserving / ordering a self-storage unit, payment and unlocking doors to your unit.

4. You’ll get a a unique digital key in the App that you can use to immediately unlock the unit and start moving in your stuff.

Login distinguishes between lowercase and uppercase letters in e-mail and you must have a country code (+27) in front of your phone number. If you’ve forgotten the password, this can be reset by clicking on “forgotten password”. If you still have problems, please contact customer service and we’ll help you solve the problem.
You’ll use digital keys generated in the Flexistore App. This means that your phone is your key – so download the App to your phone or tablet to unlock your storage unit. (The app requires iOS or Android operating system).
Flexistore offers several different options for transport if you don’t have the opportunity or means to transport your things yourself. The options and prices vary depending on the size and quantity you want to transport to the storage facility. A full overview and the possibility of ordering transport can be found in the Flexistore App.
By ordering transport / moving assistance through Flexistore, you will get help to carry, transport and safely store your things in your self-storage unit. The transport will be emission-free, or 100% climate-compensated.
If you can’t seem to unlock your storage unit, please check the following:
1. Are you logged in to the App?
2. Is your phone’s Bluetooth on? (Try turning Bluetooth on and off)
3.. Does the phone have coverage and internet connection / 4G / 5G? (There is a free guest network at Flexistore)
4. Has the lease expired?
5. Do you have outstanding fees that must be paid?
6. Try to close the app completely, turn the phone on and off, and try again.

You can update contact details and payment information in the App. Contact details can be changed under More – User profile. Here you can also change your password. Card details can be updated under the individual Unit Subscription.
If you need more or less space, it’s no problem to change storage units, provided that the size you want is available. Contact customer service and we’ll help you change units without incurring administrative costs.

All our self-storage facilities are open 24 hours a day. You have access to your self-storage unit with the digital keys in the App 24/7 every day, all year round.
As of today, we do not sell moving equipment.
